History
Woodhall Lane United Reformed Church is well established in an urban priority area of Welwyn Garden City, situated East of the Railway. The housing is a mixture of private and social needs
The first building for non-conformist worship was built in the Hatfield Hyde area of Welwyn Garden City in 1921. In 1928 another church was built on the present site and known as Woodhall Lane Congregational Church. It was rebuilt in brick, and the wooden church became the hall in 1938.
In 1978 a fire extensively damaged the church building and it had to be rebuilt, that took 3 years with the congregation raising a good proportion of the costs. It was dedicated in 1981.
Celebrations
We will be celebrating our 85th anniversary on the weekend of June 24th and 25th this year, which is also the 25 anniversary since the church was rebuilt after the fire
